According to a Salem postal employee there is a plan to close the Main Salem Post Office processing center and move all sorting and distribution of mail to Portland. This means there will be no more overnight delivery of mail within Salem and the expectation is that most mail from Salem residents and businesses to other Salem residents and businesses would take 2-3 days. If you think this is unacceptable, contact your Congressional representatives to say so. You may easily do this at www.Congress.org by entering your zip code on the top right of the screen.
